Độ sụt bê tông là độ cứng của hỗn hợp bê tông, tính lỏng và ẩm ướt. Nói cách khác, đo độ sụt bê tông là đo chiều cao của hỗn hợp bê tông sau khi đổ vào nón sụt giảm khác nhau với những mẫu khác.
Thông thường với các mẫu có độ sụt cao thường được sử dụng để xây dựng đường vỉa hè… Còn với các chiều cao thấp hơn sẽ được sử dụng trong xây dựng.
Khái niệm độ sụt bê tông là gì cũng đồng nghĩa với khải niệm độ lưu động của vữa bê tông. Các khái niệm này để nhằm đánh giá khả năng dễ chảy của hỗn hợp bê tông dưới tác dụng của rung động hoặc trọng lượng bản thân.
Ở giai đoạn đầu, bê tông có dạng vữa lỏng để có thể thi công được. Vật liệu lúc này dễ chứa đựng, vận chuyển và dễ dàng đổ vào thiết bị để tạo khuôn. Tính linh động của vữa dạng lỏng đảm bảo cho việc rót bê tông vào khuôn dễ dàng/
Đặc tính lưu động này được đo lường qua chỉ tiêu độ sụt của vữa bê tông trước khi đổ bê tông. Hình dạng của khối vật liệu bê tông có thể thay đổi theo hình dạng chưa đựng, tạo hình cho bê tông, hay còn được gọi là khuôn đúc bê tông. Kiểm tra độ sụt bê tông đảm bảo cho vữa có thể chảy đến mọi vị trí ngóc ngách trong khuôn đúc tạo hình.
Cách tính độ sụt bê tông

Độ sụt được xác định theo ASTM C143-90A hoặc TCVN 3105-93. Ký hiệu là SN (cm).
Dụng cụ để kiểm tra độ sụt bê tông gồm:

Côn Abrams, kích thước 203x102x305 mm có phần đáy và miệng hở.

Que đầm hình tròn có đường kính bằng 1,6cm dài 60cm.
Độ sụt = 305 – [Chiều cao của bê tông tươi]
Căn cứ vào độ sụt trên thị trường hiện nay, chúng ra có thể chia bê tông làm ba loại:

Loại dẻo SN < 8
-
Siêu dẻo có SN=10–22 cm.

Độ sụt bê tông bao nhiêu là hợp lý?
Hiện nay, các loại bê tông thường được sản xuất với các mác bê tông 200, 250, 300, 350, hay mác 400,… Đối với công trình dân dụng nhỏ như công trình nhà ở, người ta thường sử loại mác bê tông 250 hoặc mác 300.

Cách chọn độ sụt bê tông hợp lý
Ở phần trên, chúng ta đã nắm được khái niệm độ sụt bê tông là gì, vậy độ sụt bê tông bao nhiêu là hợp lý? Ứng với mỗi hạng mục; vị trí thi công hạng mục; cách đổ bê tông bằng đổ tay, bơm cần hay bơm tĩnh; cũng như đặc điểm về thời tiết, khí hậu,… sẽ có các độ sụt khác nhau. Việc thay đổi độ sụt bê tông này là nằm đảm bảo có thể triển khai thi công được.

Đối với các công trình công nghiệp, các công trình có quy mô lớn. Mỗi loại công trình khác nhau sẽ có cách chọn độ sụt bê tông khác nhau như:

Nhà công nghiệp nhịp lớn, silô, bể chứa: từ 300 – 400

Móng nhà cao tầng, nhà kho, nhà xưởng: từ 300 – 400
-
Cọc bê tông đúc sẵn, cọc nhồi: từ 300 trở lên

Mố, dầm cầu, trụ cầu, dầm dự ứng lực: tà 350 trở lên.
